Sure there is: Sometimes it doesn’t boot. And nobody can deny that it’s been great for driving linux adoption!
Just a smol with big opinions about AFVs and data science. The onlyfans link is a rickroll.

1·6 days agoDigging into it a little more (insomnia, how I loathe you): I’m not sure what it’s called on Omoda cars, but automatic acceleration from stop / tap-to-accelerate is a feature in every EV I’ve driven with adaptive cruise control. The ‘dangerous’ part is alleged to be that Omoda cars lack a cutoff integrated with the rest of the sensors that disable the function when road conditions aren’t identifiable (like because there’s a preschool in the way). This is absolutely a failure on her part to remain in control of her vehicle, but it’s a failure that was exacerbated by dangerously poor design.

0·6 days agoSounds like a combination of a brief lapse in attention she failed to recover from and an absurdly dangerous feature in the car, which combined with the usual predictable results when that happens while controlling a massive vehicle.
She went on to say that she had been driving the vehicle for a number of months and said there was a feature on the Omoda, an automatic vehicle, that meant it would begin to accelerate if a certain pedal was pressed whilst it was stationary.

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•reason enough to fail the interview
1·1 month agoIn the case of my mother, she’s pretty autistic and a very well known data scientist. This was her way of teaching me how she relates to the world - I’m quite grateful to her for it; it has given me a love of programming and allowed me get a great deal closer with her.

1·1 month agoWhen I was a kid and my mother was teaching me to read SQL, she really drove home that Elegance is in the eye of the beholder. While a C++ dev finds beauty in reducing a signal processing step to O(n) by recursing through five lines of bitwise ingenuity, a SQL dev finds radiance in completing the task without using any loops at all.

0·2 months agoALRIGHT THAT’S THE CORRECT WAY TO CELEBRATE HALLOWEEN, LETS FUCKING GO.
GOG was worth supporting for that reason ( until their recent little Nazi incident…) but Epic is far worse for the games industry than anything steam has ever done. Holding games
hostageexclusive to try and force people to use their shitty platform is much worse than steam saying the steam price has to match the lowest price off-steam…

In this case the nuance and intention both are “they admit they knew these were nazi symbols but decided to send them out anyways, fully aware it may cause offense”. While you yourself may be ignorant of common nazi symbols (and I envy you that particular source of bliss), as evidenced by at least this thread, you are (perhaps fortunately) not representative of the whole population.
