Plenty of IDEs have non-LLM predictive text. Common code patterns pop up as a suggestion, and continue to refine as you type.
It’s not the same level of “write a comment and we will spit out something that might work” but it’s more than a few steps above notepad.
The only things a consumer would likely want is the RAM and storage, I will agree. But the immediate drop in demand for AI hardware would pivot a good portion of production back to consumer hardware.
And that isn’t including the fact that businesses and home labbers would love to get their hands on pretty much anything they’d be casting off.

AI bubble popping would almost immediately crash the pricing. All AI earmarked hardware would be suddenly fair game, any hardware in the datacenters would be sold off, and you would see a dramatic rise in availability.
So yeah, you can absolutely see things getting cheaper.
The responsibility of monitoring and control has always been in the hands of parents. The responsibility of providing the tools they use are the platforms.

Most implementations have a way to kill off the Face ID authentication. On modern iPhones you can spam the power button 5 times and Face ID is disabled. If you want a “cold boot” situation which is much harder to get into, just press and hold volume down and power for 10 seconds to hard reboot it.
