My schedule is a bit messed up, so don’t have much game time. Just played a bit on weekend.
Started God of War: Ragnarok. With the next game coming out in January, it’s the perfect time to catch up to the series.
I have only played a few hours, but having fun with it. Combat feels a bit less exciting than the first one, probably cause it’s just more of the same. The novelty and feel of summoning back the axe, which I absolutely loved in the first game, has worn off. It’s still fun, just not as fun. The story is interesting though, and looking forward to how things go.
Played couple more “days” of Pikmin 1. I have cleared the first two areas completely now, and just have two items remaining in the third area. Should be done in a day. Haven’t visited the fourth area yet, will go there after getting both these items.
All other games are paused at the moment.
What about all of you? What have you been playing and/or plan to play?

Finished Afterimage!
I had good time with it, but it’s a massively flawed game.
The Good: Colossal maps, with a lots and lots to stuff to find - if you’re in the mood to chill and explore a huge world (while probably getting lost) you’re going to love it. Combat is solid with a lof of diferent weapons. Map is very open with plenty of different paths.
The Bad: Story is borderline incomprehensible, likely due to a bad translation. There’s some really cryptic stuff and you’ll almost certainly need a guide if you’re going for the true ending. Map and fast travel are serviceable, but not as good as they needed to be for the size of the game. Switch 1 performance is “playable” at best.
Playing MIO: Memories in Orbit!
This is a challenging game. You die easily, and healing is limited to a few specific locations in the map. Maps are full of “gotcha” moments with enemies dropping out of nowhere and not-very-obvious “touch this and you lose life damage” spots. Dying sends you back to one of the (very few) save points, even for bosses.
The end result is that you keep replaying the same location a lot, which is making this game really frustrating to play.
Which is a shame, because the rest of the game is really good. Cool powerups, decent combat, interesting customization options, great atmosphere.
Afterimage rang a bell and yup, own the game on Steam. Musta been in a humble bundle I think. I remember not liking it, and the 13 minute playtime I have support that feeling. Tho I do remember liking its looks and being surprised that it’s a Unreal Engine game. 2D is famously not UE’s strong suit, but then some developers out there just make you think “Damn, UE can do that?” (like Pseudoregalia)
Why is everyone making games so challenging? MIO looked great, and I love metroidvanias / side-scrollers but too many of these games have started to embrace the higher difficulties of Hollow Knight etc.
I don’t mind the higher difficulties, it’s the time wasting that drives me mad.
Really hard bosses? Sure, just let me respawn immediately next to it instead of making me go through a minute of walking before every retry.
Tough platforming challenges? Do it like Well Dweller and have a health item respawn at the beginning of the challenge so you can keep practicing as much as necessary.
That’s a fair point. If you want to make it difficult, at least have features that doesn’t make it frustrating. Let me “git gud” without wasting tons of my time.
