  • The AI disclosure is important. Which one, where, how and why. Just to show an example why it’s important, it’s basically the same as this thing that is absolutely needed and normal in the food industry precisely because we allow people to do things the wrong way:

This food product is processed in the same tanks, conveyors belts and filters that also process Imperiling Allergen.

  • Claude Code and other LLM coding frameworks have a habit of inserting themselves into git commits as contributors, so KDE wants to avoid that as well. They deserve as much attribution as your linter; precisely none.

It’s not about attribution. It’s about this:

This food product is processed in the same tanks, conveyors belts and filters that also process Imperiling Allergen.

Our food industries for example have this because it is necessary to know, the damage (potential and real) otherwise is too great, in our food cases it even involves death, and in the case of AI it might as well do as AI is used in the genocide of Palestinians.

  • That’s why you are supposed to pick an instance that does most of that work for you: one that will have already blocked what you don’t like.

The banlist is public but is essentially a hassle of an Excel spreadsheet to crawl through, what would be nice would be having some sort of public “moderation trends” (broad-strokes view of what have we been blocking and will continue to do so) and “moderation commitments” (eagle view of what will happen when you report a post to us).

  • I feel like this is an issue of (either accidentally or incidentally) putting focus on something that doesn’t really need it. Picking instances should not matter; not in the sense of “it’s federated blah blah” but more in the sense of “it’s 2026, there’s password managers, noone uses their real identities for everything; having multiple accounts wherever it’s convenient should be normal”.
