Let me know how it worked out for you!

TREK serves different purpose than Dawarich, it’s a trip planning app, while Dawarich is a private location history app.
As for GeoPulse and Reitti, I’d say it’d be more fair to ask their devs how they are different from Dawarich, because both of them were created after I built Dawarich and heavily inspired by it (at least that’s what Daniel, author of Reitti said). It’s safe to say they offer a slightly different solution to the same problem, UI-, business-logic- or features-wise, in different proportions. As far as I understand, they are still being inspired by some Dawarich features, and it’s completely fine.
As for specific things to adapt from them, recently both of them released an integration with Panoramax, which I find interesting and considered about a year ago. I eventually decided against it due to the fact Panoramax has a very uneven coverage for the planet (which is understandable, it’s a crowd-sourced project), and I’d prefer for every Dawarich feature to have full planet coverage. I’m still thinking about Panoramax though and it’s possible I’ll also build an integration with it.
You can also check out these pages, although it’s possible they are a bit stale. https://dawarich.app/docs/comparisons/vs-reitti/ https://dawarich.app/docs/comparisons/vs-geopulse/

We’re constantly working on the battery consumption, and you can tweak your settings to consume bit less battery but it will affect tracks quality

Thanks, glad it’s useful to you!

You can check github and see it all started in the pre-AI era. AI is a tool, not a human replacement, being a sentient human such as yourself I guess you understand that :)

We had absolute meme moment on our discord server few weeks ago :D
I had it more than once, even native Germans usually can’t parse right away :D Also: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7o2WJPXMVw

To a degree. You can track your data and see it on your phone with no backend connected, but Dawarich started as a self-hosted app, not as mobile-first, and we intend to continue moving in that direction. Having a server for all heavy calculation is a lot easier than trying to put everything on a phone. Besides, Google already went mobile-first (or rather mobile-only) with its timeline, and I’d prefer to still have it all in my browser, not on a tiny screen only :)

I have some plans to significantly improve transportation mode detection :)

Yup, heatmap layer is there since the very beginning :)
It’s this one :) https://geekboards.de/products/deskpad-geekboards-soyuz-900x400-5mm
