You know the boomers are like 80 now, right? The only boomers not somehow retired are the ones also under the American system, who will never afford this.

ZFS promises dedupe and super-simple snap synch to another host.
What I liked it for over e4 is the far greater inode count per file, as my backup setup was doing hardlink(1) and running into the boundary a lot.
Now I like its trivial snapshotting as a periodic rollback target on my file server to recover from occasional oopses; hook the .snaps up to a smbd and people can grab their own files back from the brink.
I still use like 90% e4 though. More stable and reliable than xfs, it’s good for everything you value.

I cannot imagine someone not being VERY sure how to vote in this next American election.

Dude, I wanna tell you that success is possible.
On this one daily driver of a 6-year-old machine. I installed proxmox. Then a desktop on top of that. Then I made the USB keyboard, mouse, and sound, go into that internal machine with the video card. Then I plugged all that shit into a USB KVM, then a 20ft set of USB and video cables to my desk, where the USB is hubbed to the ends of sanity itself before it comes out to a USB mouse, keyboard, and sound dongle. Video goes to the panels clamped onto this desk.
Works. It defies logic, threatens one spec and probably breaks a low of nature and more than one of decency, but it works.
Your way-better gear should really work like gangbusters. Please keep at it in case the solution is right there.

a […] software
Nope. Software doesn’t get an ‘a’ in front of it; it’s like saying ‘a happy’. ‘Uncountable’ or ‘mass’ nouns are like that.

Colibri is a tool to run LLMs on small gear.

Sorry. My fault. I’ve been working too much to play games.
“oral history”.
“The ropes”
It’s got many names. Why did this guy not know any of them? Why was “I don’t know the name” suddenly “there is no name”?
enjoy this reading
It’s not a reading: we have to read it ourselves.
You’re gonna get different viewpoints, ranging from “yeah, but it’s popular” to “shut up”.
