Thanks! That’s good to hear.

Good to know. Thanks!
I’m a waitlister so it’ll be a while for me. I hope you enjoy it!

Have you tried streaming over WiFi without the dongle?

You said you work on personal projects while it brrrrs. Of course it depends, but are we talking personal projects 30s at a time, 10 min at a time, or an hour?

That’s pretty great actually!
I’ve so far managed to avoid being mandated vibe coding at work since I have some pull at the company, so I don’t have a ton of experience working with it.
How long does each brrrr take? Does it give you a reasonable amount of time to sink into a personal project before it completes?

I’m also on the waitlist :(

I’ve been against live coding in an interview for years. But now with AI it’s something I’ve brought back into interviews, and it is to be done without AI. I refuse to hire someone who can’t write a function by hand, let alone can’t think through a problem on their own. I don’t really care if they get the right answer or even if the code works. I just want to see that they are capable of thinking through something and writing something reasonable.
I’m not going to force anyone on my team to not use the tools day to day, but you’d better understand what’s going on and you’d damn well be able to do your job if there’s an outage. I’m also not going to have my team beholden to the whims of some LLM provider if they choose to change pricing or limitations.

On the Frame itself, yes. On the PC side it’s encoding and sending an audio/video stream and receiving inputs from the VR device over a network. They have implementations for other devices, so it stands to reason that they’d have an implementation for their own device. Maybe there are some kinks to work out (nvidia hardware, Wayland implementation, etc. ), but I’m sceptical that it “doesn’t work”. Especially since game journalism is full of hyperbole.
Then again, maybe I’ll have an expensive paper weight on my desk for a while, but hopefully not! 😆

I find that hard to believe. I’ve been able to stream just fine from Steam to a Quest 2 for months. It’s worked for years if you include using ALVR.

One opened up near my place a few years ago and I walked in once to check it out. I can’t talk about the quality of the instruction, but the person there was very enthusiastic. The place was full of Lego Mindstorms and other programmable toys. Looks like the sort of place I would have had fun at as a kid. But that was just a first impression many years ago.

Good lord, let’s waste more energy and destroy more communities because now naming things is too hard? I hope this is a joke.
No way bro. Yesterday I would have agreed with you but the new Doofus 12.3 model that just came out an hour ago is so revolutionary. Trust me.
