From database management to people management!

I always took the bus to college even though buses are slow here, because on the bus I could read (the college was the last stop) and I didn’t have to pay for parking, and it got me closer to the school than the parking was, and was free because it’s free for college students. All that added up to make it well worth the time. I didn’t have to transfer though.

The time isn’t the only consideration.

ETA - when I had to take the bus to work and transfer at a station where the bus I needed to transfer to left a couple minutes before my bus arrived, I complained and they actually adjusted the schedule very slightly so that the people on my bus could transfer to that bus instead of waiting an hour for the next one. So if it’s not just you & is a situation like that, you see one pulling away then have to wait, let the transit people know.

The one that got me was “probably has a husband who doesn’t like lotion”

I always figured Amazon knew the most about me because what you buy probably says more about you than what you search. Like Google may think I’m a raving lunatic but Amazon knows I am a householder and what I use. So I was honestly pretty relieved most of it was very general except that oddball example above.

I was on Reddit a long time, it wasn’t always huge. Usenet forums before that. I like following topics, not people, and like hosting communities built around topics but would hate to have “followers” of myself personally, that sounds hellish. So never used Facebook, etc, and don’t even love Mastodon, really.

But apparently this is a minority view?
