Technology@lemmy.world•Retailers are pulling back from self-checkout after years of theft, errors, and questionable time savingsEnglish
1·2 days agoNo its not us based, I’ve never had a self check here that has that issue. They lock down for if they think you are stealing (I’ve never had repeated scans trigger that its usually if you try to hide a barcode or something) or age restrict but other than that as long as it isn’t an operator issue its pretty streamlined.

2·2 days agoman age checks on energy drinks must suck, we don’t habe that here or I likely would dislike doing self check a little as well.
I would still do it because its defo faster but it might cause me to at least potentially think about it

Games@sh.itjust.works•Slime rancher 2 feels like it has more grind to it.English
2·4 days agoOh man, I haven’t played the second one, but the first one I felt was pretty grindy. Are you saying that it’s even more grindier in the second one? That’s disappointing I ultimately stopped once I unlocked the research area in the first one because the game became too much of a grind.
edit: I typod. I’m comparing the first to the second, saying the first was pretty grindy.

Technology@lemmy.world•Apple Ordered to Pay $5.7 Billion for Infringing Haptics Patent in iPhone, Apple WatchEnglish
0·10 days agoFor perspective, the watch division makes between $35 to $40 billion annually.

This happens whenever you’re talking about any topic that the AI model provider has decided arbitrarily they don’t want to do.
I got temporarily banned off deep-seek the other day because I was curious about how well generation technology has gotten for self-hosting. So I asked it about setting up Cozy UI because I had never used it before. Woke up the next morning to a your account has been suspended because we have deemed you a broke term to the service. In order to appeal you need a Chinese phone number, it made me chuckle.
Considering the only two questions I asked it was about cozy UI or how to make a recipe similar to the now discontinued flaming hot cheetos Mountain Dew(I missed the production window sadly!)
I’m leaning towards the cozy UI being the reason.
