I struggled to be a proper mom when my kid was a toddler.
One of the few things I did absolutely right, was read to him every night. It was usually the best part of my day.
“when will they have enough”… “prodictivity” is almost appearing to be the death of human connection these days, and to that, I just say, Komorebi mother fuckers.
Komorebi. To define in my own words, it is the way light filters through trees.
I learned about komorebi in a Thomas Flight video in the context of film (video essayist). He brings it about when discussing a film titled “Perfect Days”, and rather than butcher explaining it, I will recommend to watch. He explains the context and value much better than I could.
There can be good in the world if you slow down and look. Thats really it. But of course, its because everyone is stressed and working to the bone, the american culture… it makes it more difficult to practice… being still. To be still, long enough to enjoy small moments like youve desscribed.
“some retard” was an elder lady for me the other day. I didnt mind the wait, she had to use three forms of payment for her order, she had a helper, and was probably struggling. I didnt mind.
There also was a woman behind me. We exchanged that polite smile when our eyes met, normal stuff. We were waiting a few mins, and I think she thought she was rude. She said to me, “I dont smile big because I dont like my teeth”. I didnt even question it tbh, but felt a little sad this woman was shy about her teeth, so much so she didnt smile fully.
I got to tell this woman, we are all humans, I myself bad hair, and her smile was beautiful. And, she did smile fully then :)
The elder lady in front finished up, and I checked out.
I hope I made that lady’s day.
Sometimes, if you slow down, you can see beauty in the world around you.
Children need parental bonding.
Also, an audio book wont assist in helping the child learn to read.
