Imagine the constant tire microplastic onslaught to your face
Who puts a fucking station on the highway?
They’re meant to be at destinations people want to go to.
Planners come up with this shit, then wonder why noone uses the train.
then wonder why noone uses the train.
Nah they plan for it to be unused, and as evidence of its unuse…
Probably actually thinking something along the lines of: “Nobody important uses the train, so it’s best to keep costs to a minimum and build it alongside a more important infrastructure project that people will actually use to save on costs. It won’t be as good as a European one but America is just too big for trains to work as well as they do in Europe”.
They put it down the existing rail RoW that the highway was built around.
That station specifically connects with a major bus route that, in one direction, takes you to Midway Airport, and in the other, takes you to the University of Chicago campus, the Museum of Science and Industry, the new Obama center, and the DuSable Museum of African-American history, along with a handful of other museums, galleries, schools, and other amenities.
Is the same freeway used in the second Matrix movie?
Nope!
The freeway used in the matrix movie was built on a former military base in California.
A few years ago, I thought a freeway near me was the filming location, so I looked it up. In hindsight it makes sense that shutting down a major highway for filming and crashing cars into real infrastructure isn’t as advisable as just making a fake.
Could be next to a big parking area, so you can leave your car outside the city, and take the train to the center.
The Garfield Red Line station is well inside the city.
Yes, it is truly the secret sauce of cars: they manage to actively make every other form of transportation infinitely worse just by existing.
You know who isn’t hearing anything? Everyone in those cars.
Well that’s what happens when you don’t give a fuck about other people.
The blue line Irving park station is like this as well, when I stand there I wonder how much exhaust fume and dust and shit I’m breathing in kicked up by that cars passing by
