we don’t blame you if you’re feeling burnt out. If keeping up with the latest and greatest in the tech world has been difficult for you
This year, we’re finding survey respondents are less happy in their work … All that innovation and uncertainty can make it tough to feel comfortable in your job.
Next level gaslighting. People are not unhappy due to not being able to keep up or due to innovation. They are unhappy because the managers want to fire everybody and replace them with an LLM.
Also, wages are depressed.
I’m surprised they still got so many responses now that SO is dead.
Stack overflow had pushed so hard for LLM usage in the last survey that a question such as “what percentage of developers use ai (LLMs)” is meaningless now, because those developers which don’t use it will just have rolled their eyes upon seeing another survey, and skipped it entirely. It can’t be representative any more.
Interesting point. It’s good to see someone lending a critical eye to method.
Asking lots of questions about the controversial big thing seems like a good idea?
Not if each of these questions is loaded like a 17th century cannon…
Oh wow, a lot of people are jumping out of the current industry morass, turning to self-employment instead. I guess I’m not the only one!
How / what are you jumping to?
I’m working on an app that scans handwritten notebooks for backup and full text search, plus other handy features. https://papernotebook.app/
Can you tell more?
I elaborated in another reply
What happened to their UI? It’s so abrasive now it’s hard to look at.
Reminiscent of so much online discourse, it’s shouty and unnuanced.
