Something I found interesting that deserved a write-up this morning is the blog post from LibreOffice / The Document Foundation on no AI being a feature.
Ai being shoved into everything has a problem that even pro ai individuals can probably agree on: you have no control on what the ai is or what it’s supposed to do. It will be biased in favor of whomever is shoving it at you. The only ai you can trust is the service you chose, better yet something self hosted.
the lack of nuance is my only complaint with lemmy. it is inundated with anti-ai posts. hell libre office blogs shouldnt be in a programming community. can we hear about languages. or compilers or ides or what ever but not office products
It’s sad that nuanced talk is getting rarer and rarer. I think we can all agree that AI can be useful if used thoughtfully.
No AI shouldn’t be a feature per se. No Microsoft bullshit, on the other hand, is a feature.
