The second large change is the switch to relative paths in project files. This means that if your videos or images are in the same folder as the project file (or a subfolder), you can easily move your work to another drive and reopen it without issue. This should really improve the experience for people editing projects on several computers, or switching between different operating systems. And this should also fix issues for teams doing collaborative work with projects on network drives or removable drives.
Oh my god, this wasn’t the norm?
No, but you pretty much only had to click “search recursively” and it would find and relink everything in a few seconds. I used to do this fairly often and it really wasn’t much hassle - but obviously not needing to do it at all would be better :)
This is such an amazing feature (saved my ass in Blender so often).
No, it waas annoying. But I think by editing the paths in the project files it could work, I never tested it to be honest.
Olive Editor?
No, it’s Kdenlive.
Oops! KDE stopped supporting X11, so not me.
What when?! In stuffed then. I need x11 for accessibility. Wayland can’t do it.
They announced it here: https://blogs.kde.org/2025/11/26/going-all-in-on-a-wayland-future/
Do read the section about accessibility, in particular this bit:
Please open a bug report if you have any special requirements that we don’t cover yet! This is an active topic we’re very interested in improving.
