My only complaint about Orion was that it wasn’t open source so that’s good at least

Brave owns an ad network and that’s all I need to know to never use any of their products.
There are other comparable options that have better companies behind them.
Kagi’s Orion has not given me a reason to hate them except that it isn’t open source. They don’t sell your data and they don’t serve ads.

Tech isn’t the problem. It’s teaching kids to think critically. It’s hard to do regardless of what device you are using and it’s next to impossible with large class sizes.
Writing things out by hand does give kids time to think in larger classes where they can’t help guide their own lesson, though.
Me over here who just liked problem solving and making things.
