It’s giving

It’s 2026 and you have way too much optimism left after all the OSS rug pulls of the last six fucking years.
Even hardware rugpulled. Fucking Micron.
Forget it; BitWarden is cooked.
Every single time Bitwarden is mentioned on the internet, someone comes in here and proudly recites the anthem “I have been using Keep ass with sink things”
It sucks compared to a dedicated extension.
No autofill No TOTP or 2FA support Doesn’t do passkeys Doesn’t have organizational sharing Doesn’t sync to mobile devices Doesn’t integrate with mobile browsers without trusting some compatible 3rd party app Requires selfhosting your passwords (don’t fuck it up!)
It’s actually pretty sad that the open source world doesn’t have a better solution for this. I mean I guess BitWarden was it but that’s been stolen by venture capital so
It had cloud storage, built in TOTP with autofill, and some had features like organizations and sharing
Still, this fucking sucks. Bitwarden was literally created as a ln answer to this shit happening to LastPass and Dashlane.

Shouldn’t have moved past the floppy disc, Japan

I just want to go on record here and say that parent poster’s is an absolutely psychotic take from an person who should never have children and is likely already brain broken by AI.
Hey? Makeshift? You fucking made the child, now take care of it. You can fucking have a break IN LIKE 20 MINUTES WHEN YOUR KID FALLS ASLEEP TO THE BEDTIME STORY YOU JUST READ TO THEM, YOU BUFFOON. YOU HALFWIT. YOU ABSOLUTE WITLESS DISHCLOTH.

There’s literally an embed of the video in the middle of the article.
Sometimes Reader mode only pulls the intro to the article; paywalls and ad loads sometimes stop full text from being initially loaded in order to prevent bots/scrapers and unpaid/as blocking readers from accessing the full work.
EDIT: Doesn’t seem to be the case here with iOS Reader Mode on Voyager’s builtin browser. I haven’t tried other browsers.

Yes. We should trust some other company with all our data, what could go wrong? Think of how much money we can save by *checks notes* no longer being in business at all!

As long as we live under capitalism, copyright protects small artists, writers, and creators as much as it protects large shitty corporations who weaponize it.
I’d love to be rid of all intellectual property, but we have a lot to fix before that can become reality without punishing people who rely on it.
I’m down with some huge reforms though.

That’s right. 4-6 registers with one employee.

The AI isn’t very useful, that’s a problem. The government will make them public, then the public will own their huge dept. the oligarchs will receive golden parachutes in the form of a buyout and we will get stuck with the bill. Fuck that, make the technofeudalists liquidate at reasonable prices. Give people their homes back. Make them pay to supply clean water everywhere an open-loop DC was constructed. Jail them for terrorism after polluting our skies and attempting to corner the market on information in order to control the populace.

Even if it was encrypted, it could be unlocked because with full disk access it can read the local private key, which probably doesn’t need a passphrase because it’s be a pain in the ass for the user to retype that every reboot or more
Starting to see why you shouldn’t let any corporate AI loose on your daily driver yet?

Smart TVs just find those “open” hotspots that cable providers leave on everyone’s modem now; you don’t even need to agree to TOS before it starts locating and spying.
Every device is a wiretap. Every device is a wiretap. We live in a panopticon. The purpose of AI is to price us out of the component market. You can’t escape if you can’t afford your own hardware.

You own your identity.
Your handle, your posts, your followers. Outgrow a server? Move and take everyone with you. No lock-in, no starting over.
Patently not true, every server you sign up for is a different account and if you move servers you make an entirely new account there that cannot edit any of your posts, comments, or DMs; there is no method of transfer outside of some external tools that allow you to move your follow lists, which typically need to be the same service (can’t move your Lemmy communities to Mastodon follows last I looked).
Also anyone following you does not automatically follow your new identity.
TBH this is something that ActivityPub was not designed for, but it should be.

And there it goes, money so spraying out of the circular vortex. Won’t be long now.

Omg you can jailbreak smart TVs now? HELL yeah
EDIT: I am especially interested in LG webOS because I was a Palm Prē enjoyer back in the day and I rooted the fuck out of that phone (still have it somewhere)
I’m not, I’ve seen enough
